How to Sign and Watermark a PDF Online

Add a visible signature and watermark to PDFs for forms, drafts, reviews, and simple approvals.

Use the right signature type

A typed or drawn signature is useful for simple forms, approvals, and personal paperwork. It creates a visible mark on the page. Start with Sign PDF if you need to type your name, draw with a mouse or finger, choose a font, and place the signature on selected pages.

Place the signature carefully

Do not cover important text, boxes, dates, or stamps. Put the signature where the form expects it, then zoom in and check the result before sending. If your PDF pages are sideways, fix them first with Rotate PDF so your signature lands in the correct area.

Add a watermark for drafts

Watermarks help label files as Draft, Confidential, Sample, Paid, or Review Copy. Use Add Watermark when you want text across one page, all pages, or a selected page range. Lower opacity is usually better because the document stays readable.

Combine signature and watermark steps

For many workflows, watermark first and sign second. For example, add a Draft watermark to a review copy, then sign the final accepted version. If you need several documents in one file, use Merge PDF after checking each signed page.

Know the limit

This tool adds visible signature text or drawing. It is not a certificate-based digital signature service. For legal contracts, government forms, or official business documents, always follow the rules of the website, company, or authority receiving the PDF.

Keep an unsigned copy

Save the original file before adding a signature or watermark. If someone asks for a clean version later, you can return to the original instead of trying to remove marks from the edited PDF. This is especially helpful for repeated forms and client review documents.
