How to Merge PDF Files Online

Combine several PDF files into one document for school, work, invoices, contracts, and forms.

Put files in the right order

Before merging, rename or arrange your files in the order you want them to appear. This prevents confusion after download.

Use the Merge PDF tool

Select all PDFs, check the order, and create one combined document. A merged PDF is easier to share than several separate attachments.

Review the final PDF

Open the downloaded file and check the page order, page count, and document name before sending it.

Plan the final document before merging

A merged PDF should read like one complete document, not a pile of random files. Put the cover page first, then the main document, then supporting pages such as receipts, certificates, IDs, or terms. If some pages are images, convert them first with PNG to PDF or Image to PDF, then merge everything into one upload-ready file.

Check file names and order

Many people rely on filenames such as scan1.pdf or final-new.pdf, but those names can be confusing. Before using Merge PDF, rename files with a clear order such as 01-cover.pdf, 02-form.pdf, and 03-receipts.pdf. If the uploaded list appears in the wrong order, move files before creating the final PDF so the reader does not have to guess the sequence.

Remove pages that do not belong

Before combining documents, open each PDF and check whether it contains blank pages, repeated scans, old versions, or private pages. It is better to remove those pages first with Remove Pages than to fix the merged file later. This keeps the final PDF shorter, cleaner, and easier for a client, teacher, employer, or portal reviewer to understand.

Compress after merging when needed

A combined PDF can become large, especially when it includes scanned pages or photos. After merging, check the final file size. If it is too large for email or an online form, use Compress PDF. Always review the compressed copy because image-heavy documents can lose clarity if compression is too strong.

Review the final PDF from start to end

Open the merged PDF before sending it. Confirm the first page, final page, total page count, and document order. Check that signatures, dates, attachments, and page numbers still make sense. A two-minute review catches most mistakes and prevents awkward follow-up emails asking for missing pages.
